Default UPDATE - Hudson PD Encryption

Hello Group:

UPDATE: Hudson PD Encryption

I received a communication from Hudson regarding their "evaluation" of
encyrption. I was told that they have decided to modify their current
practice of full encryption and we will start to hear some activity
over the scanner again. Some of the activity we will not be able to
hear going forward.

As of last night and this morning, I am now hearing some transmissions
again in the clear on Hudson 159.2175.

Thanks - Mike

I am wondering if it was not what they expected as far as their transmitions go. Be interesting to know why they decided to change back.
Good job on getting the info Mike.

Software encryption on a conventional P25 system is quite transparent. The voice will sound tinny, but that is on account of the P25, not the encryption.

Just a guess, but they may have realized or been informed that if they went blanket encryption, they were going to have issues with respect to mutual aid and other non-owned subscriber equipment.
