Units are currently on scene at the beach front near 660 East Ave with a single engine plane down. PD reported the pilot out of the plane and is not injured. FAA has been notified.

As of 7:00pm State Police are clearing the scene, the FAA is conducting their investigation. Strangely enough I'm getting my info from the county radio system, nothing on State unless they're on a talk group I don't have programmed.

Nice photo Elias, I'll bet it's on the news sites tomorrow.

What goes up...

Units are currently on scene at the beach front.

Look, I'm no expert on Aviation or Photography, but to me it looks like a text book "Beach Landing - Door Open" technique. Let's look!

He's flaring nicely. Nose up - has the door open for additional steerage to starboard - 80 knots. Flaps Down to reduce speed - 40 feet.... 30... 20... 10 .... Perfect!

What's next? Clams Casino and a glass of Chardonnay for the entire crew - and a re-test very soon.

Well, it didn't work this time. Never on soft beach sand and where it's harder near the water all that's needed is a shallow hole to catch the nose gear and it flips. That looks like the same plane, hmmm. Too bad the N number is nearly invisible, it would be interesting to find out who owns it.

A plane making an emergency landing on the beach in Bay Head hit debris under the sand on Sunday and flipped over. Neither the pilot nor a passenger were hurt, police said. / Photo courtesy of Sgt. Todd LaRue, Bay Head Police

Yup brick patch has the photos on their site, also NJSP was using StateCom 3 North talkgroup during this incident however this channel was already in use for the units patrolling the storm damage areas on the barrier island.
