Default Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst

JBMDL officially comes on line October 1. Major changes to the radio systems are not expected to occur immediately with exception to Lakehurst, where all base support functions will go onto the 380 mhz TRS by the end of the year. The database has been updated with the TGs, it looks like it will be all encrypted. Their consolidated dispatch center will remain in place for now. McGuire and Dix will consolidate their public safety dispatch centers, rumor is that new TGs will be set up for security/police. On the fire side, the Dix TG's on the BurlCo TRS will be patched with the McGuire TG's on the Air Force system. Their hoping that Motorola comes out with their new multi band portables and mobiles that cover 380-512 mhz soon so they don't have to carry 2 radios. The 380 system for McGuire/Dix will be constructed sometime in 2010, a new tower was installed on Dix. An existing tower on the Dix ranges will also be changed to 380. The tower on McGuire will eventually come off line. Once this is all done it will be a 3 site SmartZone system to cover the Joint Base. One of the reasons for not doing work early is that most of the funding will not be available until after October 1.

The McGuire/Dix district police/security forces are now being dispatched from the Dix dispatch center, their TG's have been patched together. Look for fire to move over to McGuire dispatch by the end of the month.

Lakehurst PD is now using the TRS, TG 65010, which was identified earlier as the Command TG, this may change again. They are in the clear. Getting some hits on the Crash TG, that's encrypted.
