Default NJT Police

Hi,

What frequency would the NJ Transit police use along the RV line? Today a "tresspasser" caused havoc during the evening commute and I saw delays upto an hour. Luckily I worked from home. I recall kids playing around the tracks near Plainfield. Hope this isn't deliberate.

I have 160.83 programmed but it seems that's used for Newark and Northern NJ.

Tnx,

Mike

Default Njtpd

Mike check the RR New Jersey state database, along with their conventional frequencies they have North Jersey & a South Jersey 800 MHz trunked systems along with the light rail 800 MHz trunked systems. Also check www.n2nov.net & check the New Jerse State Police site for more NJT frequencies. Take care.

Hi,

I have a Pro-106 which I believe came programmed with the NJT trunk system. Don't recall doing it myself. I see NJT police have a sub-fleet but don't recall hearing them. The subfleet programming in the 106 is Type II. Do I have to change that to custom and program the fleet map listed in RR?

Tnx,

Mike

Default NJ Transit Rail & PD trunked system

Sorry Mike I am not that familiar with trunking systems, this is one ole dog that ain't gonna even attempt to learn that new trick. Be patient I am sure somebody will jump in & set you up with the proper technique. Happy hunting.

Hi,

I programmed in the custom fleet map and I'm now seeing subfleet numbers.

Haven't heard any police activity yet. Do they use the trunk system?

Mike

NJ Transit PD is on 160.830 for the Raritan Valley line. You will not hear much at all from the trains on the RVL, as they call in via cell to the road dispatcher from Raritan for any issues & 'form d's'.

You will probably only hear them on the VHF radio (161.235) if there has been something serious happen and they quickly need to get a hold of the dispatcher. The RVL doesn't get a lot of action for the PD units to have to deal with...

Once in awhile you'll hear stuff on 161.235, but it sounds mostly like North Jersey Coast Line. However, there was a train that had problems with it's ditch lights last Thursday on the RVL and was using the VHF radio to communicate to the dispatcher and Raritan engine house. A few minutes later, it did indeed pull into Bound Brook with no ditch lights whatsoever.

NJT PD's activity is usually focused on the major station in NJ, ex: Newark, Extortion Junction umm.. Secaucus Junction, and Hoboken Terminal.

Smile N.J.T. Riverline Police channel.

N.J.T. Police use 161.190 ( Riverline) & 161.370 ( S.J. operations). The A.C. line uses 161.40 for train ops.
