It appears as if planning is being done for a new system.
The following are a few interesting points.
Emission designator is 5K76G1E (CQPSK, compatible quadrature phase shift keying) in a 6.25 kHz channel P25 Voice, Conventional.
Apparently 52 Agencies signed a letter supporting this.
It has Region 8 coordination, so I suspect the license will be issued. They must have funding in place or an idea of a pending grant.
I suspect this will be deployed before 2013.
