That's a new one. Did you notice a Radio ID, or at least the first four digits of it?

That should put it in Passaic County. Perhaps corrections?

Someone sent me a recording today made yesterday afternoon. It's Passaic County Sheriff's Office, but it sounds more like Courthouse traffic moving prisoners in and out of courtrooms. I can see where it might be the jail itself though based on some conversations.

I believe based on the time and amount of radio traffic,
it is the court security services.

The jail would have much more radio traffic.

Passaic County Sheriff's Office

Sounds good. PCSO Bureau of Court Services it is. I'll submit.

Question Clifton Reconsiders to go to NJICS - Update

Apparently the City of Clifton Police Department has reconsidered and is now planning to switch their operations to the NJICS.

I have it on a good source who is an OEM coordinator and local (to me), has Motorola working on their Police communications system. Reported their Motorola Techs and Sales persons reported to him, Clifton has or is in the process of purchasing and installing NJICS radio equipment in their HQ and vehicles. I don't have a time frame when the switch over will be completed. However, It seems the town wants to switch over stealth fully! This is something that does not surprise me. The Passaic County Sheriff is a former Clifton PD captain, and since PCSD is already on the NJICS along with Little Falls PD and Clifton also covers Little Falls with its Health Department. There may have been pressure or more like strong recommendations for Clifton to switch. To be continued

Update: So keeping an eye and ear on this one.
So far what I have heard and read or more like lack of reading or hearing anything further on this issue. Since I Have not read or heard about this possible move in recent City Council Meetings, City Web Page or Local Town Paper though I searched. As stated previously
It seems the town wants to switch over
stealth-fully! This is something that does not surprise me.
At this time, I think this move is possible, however without further information for the time being I'll consider this move in the realm of "Hearsay, rumor and Wishful Thinking".

Time will only tell. If any one else has any insight or information please post it.

Thanks

Do you know what type of radios they currently use? Are they capable of operating on NJICS or will new portables and (or) mobiles by purchased?

The last time I was in Clifton and paid any attention PD had a mix of XTS2500's and XTS5000's. That's probably changed.

As to migration to the NJICS, they did allocate in this year's Clifton Police budget $200k for "Tactical Equipment Upgrades" and another $200k for "Technology Upgrades" which usually includes radios in most town's budget speak. The OEM Command/Communications Rep was also allocated $350k. So potentially the funding is there.

I also noticed in the 2018 Budget there is $427,500 for Clifton Fire "Station Alerting System". But that could be something like a PrimeAlert, Phoenix-G2, Or FirstIn system.

I actually know someone in Clifton very high up. I’ll see if I can talk to them, and ask if they heard/can confirm anything.

New TG 4573. “CH2” not much else as was in overnight discovery on x36 except that it was on the Union County site. Could fit in anywhere w the “locals”. Scotch Plains PD CH2 perhaps?

Courtesy of discovery log viewer in Sentinel.

Unit 140 was calling "County" (not 2400) if it matters.

County UID 2022906
Unit 140 UID 2016014

So then based on NJ Municipal codes, I would say it is most likely Scotch Plains F2.

Another Union Township talkgroup. 4699 Enc, RID: 2019583. That RID is squarely in the Union Township EMU (EMS) range.

Also 4683 Enc and 4685 Enc, Union Police ID's. One should be Traffic and one should be Investigations.

Do you remember what order they were in on the old EDACS listings? If the rest of the layout now follows the old layout, we can probably fill in the blanks...

Valid point. Though disclaimer, my understanding is some talkgroups would not be replicated because they were basically never used anyway. Some of the Ops talkgoups used during the CSX train wreck were being used for the first time in 5+ years.

Also all four NS Police vehicles for the New Jersey Patrol District all have APX8500's in their vehicles now. They're programmed for NJICS and PA-STARNet-25 for interop purposes. NS Police are not switching and will remain on their AAR VHF Single Channel NXDN Secure Network.
