Hi Dan,

This system is not set up like the 800 system. You'll hear traffic that has affiliated into the system you are monitoring, but it's not simulcasted on every site - only on the ones with radios affiliated to them. You should only hear traffic that are coming from talkgroups and sites that have subscriber units affiliated to them.

The fact you're hearing traffic sounds like it is working, but the site doesn't have a lot of users connected with it at that time. Which site(s) are you hearing?

Thanks for the reply...

I will keep a list of the TG I hear, but it's pretty quiet.

You would think I would be hearing Pal. Int. Pkwy PD., Bloomfield, etc.....?

I'll let you know what I hear.......

All it takes is just 1 FDMA radio affiliated to the TG.

Yeah, that caught my attention. And they still are as of about 10mins ago.

I've been getting PIP Police,Newark,Troop C 5 Comm along with 10 Comm Marine patches at times on the Bordentown site. I hit the 10,000 radio ID count mark earlier in the week

It's definitely Miller Lane in Bridgewater Township. Heard chatter regarding the NJICS and the Miller Lane county tower a few days back.

I thought the FDMA radio affiliated would just not pass the TDMA traffic...So, I learned something new today, thanks KevinC. I do have to say they sound ten times better FDMA.

I'm wondering if complaints on the audio quality caused a permanent switch or of someone has an unauthorized radio affiliated to the TG causing everything to pass FDMA. Either way, I hope it remains.

I'm also told when Elizabeth Fire switches, they are going FDMA, but PD will be TDMA. Unconfirmed though for now.

A friend is a ff in engine 26 and he said there were a lot of complaints about the audio, so my guess is the union and department pushed it back fdma to improve the audio while the bigger issue is looked at.

Is it possible that Elizabeth PD and FD will still simulcast on their current frequencies? I would think it would be silly to abandon their old frequencies, preventing surrounding towns to communicate with them. At least it seems no other towns in Union County are interested in making the transition.

Camden County isn't' using NJICS for primary operations...don't they have their own P25 Phase II TRS?

Yes and they also have statewide roaming capabilities on the NJICS.

It wouldn't hinder interops at all. The primary law interop takes place on the County EDACS Hotline or SPEN, and the county coordinated fire and EMS mutual aid systems have their own frequencies which are monitored 24/7 by all communications centers.

Union County has one of the best examples of mutual aid and interop systems/comms plans of any of the non-rural counties in New Jersey, so it wouldn't make a difference.

I also would not quite assume that no other municipalities in the county are interested. Plainfield has been looking for an alternative to their seriously aged conventional system for years, and Roselle Park attempted a trunked system that was knocked down in the application process. So there are municipalities looking for alternatives.

And their's has also seen complete system failures at least 3 times since January.

I just got back from Vacation. Over the last week I have a ton of new radio ID's all on the statecom talkgroups. Mostly in the 15xxx,16xxx range. I also have this one:99999. Looks like someone was messing around with that radio.

After thinking about it, these may be the radios they were using during the superbowl, maybe being re-issued.

I'm showing that radio first showing on the Bordentown site on 4/5/12 and last seen on 6/20/14.

I was hearing what sounded to be transportation comms on Statecom 4 last week before I locked it out. They were calling out at different places in Mercer County. My guess would be the Special Olympics.

I think you are right. Sounds like they used the super bowl radios for the special olympics. I had deleted all those sb radios out of my unitrunker list, thinking we wouldn't see them again anytime soon. I tagged all of the ones that showed up this time as event radios.
