We have a number of members on or near the coast. Elsewhere, Scott wrote that KB2VXA was in an evacuation center.

This morning I spoke with Highpockets. He is OK and dry, at home. There is no power, and his guess it will be quite a while before it returns. His street is dry but around him there are streets still with waist-deep water

DJ88 finally got his cell phone charged this morning, and checked in with Highpockets. DJ88 is OK and has the same problem -- no power, no internet -- and no estimate of repairs.

No news on elias or fineshot yet. Elias is on the coast, and fineshot is inland by 15-20 or so miles. Highpockets thinks fineshot is probably OK, being in a two-story abode.

The coast -- the Atlantic and the Delaware Bay -- took a hard hit. You've seen the video. What you didn't see were houses floating away (into the ocean and the bay), some with people who ignored the mandatory evacuation orders.

More info to come.. HTH.

If you have news of other RR members not heatd from since the storm, please post here.

My home 20 eating pizza.
NEPa fared pretty well. My town only had 3 runs for wires/trees down for the entire storm. I figured we'd be running for the whole thing. Lots of power outages but otherwise we were spared. Not much other damage. I hope everybody in NJ fared as well!

Thanks for the mention. I appreciate it. We lost our power at 7 o'clock Monday night and finally got it back this afternoon around 2:30 or so. It was a long, rough haul, no lights, heat, hot water or stove (elecrtric), and of course, no Radioreference. Thank God for the propane grill in the back yard, so we could at least cook, but it was all soup and other assorted yummy canned stuff.

I had my 396T and lots of charged batteries so I was able to keep up with what was going on during and after the storm. It was interesting (to say the least) but also saddening to hear all that was going on.

We're far enough inland, maybe 5 miles or so, where we didn't have any water damage to our house, or any other damage for that matter, and damage in our neighborhood was minimal. Our power poblem came from 3 split poles and downed transmission wires on Rt. 88, about a mile or so from us. Still not repaired but according to my wife, retired from JCP&L, they probably were able to reroute circuits to get us back on. First order of business after the hot water tank heats up is a nice hot shower!

Elias lives in Seaside Heights (Ocean County), which sits between the Ocean and Barnegat Bay, and that entire town was devistated with wind and water. It looks like a war zone there, and there is massive damage in all of the other towns along the ocean in both Ocean and Monmouth Counties, Let's hope he is okay.

And by the way, all of the emergency response personnel deserve a standing ovation and a huge thank you for all that they did.

Ken

Brian Williams on NBC News says on top of everything else in NY and NJ, the extra hour of darkness will have to be dealt with.

There will only be a couple minutes more darkness tomorrow than there was today (just like happened from yesterday to today). I hope he didn't report the time shift as really compounding recovery operation concerns, if so I just lost a little respect for him (who used to be a volunteer firefighter right here in NJ).

Just wanted to check in. We still don't have power at my house, so this post is being made via a computer at my aun t's house. Scanning, where do I begin? Virturally all fire frequencies in Bergen County have been active!! Although nothing very unusual. I'm using the 396T sparingly and only when the fire whistle goes off!! PSEG has been flooded with calls so right now I'm just focused on the North Palisades group. The 396 hasn't been abl[e to lock in on the NJSP system very well, so I can't report there. Air traffic has been coming back to life
I'm curious if anyone has caught the national gaurd either on NJSP or even the ITACS,UTACS OR VTACS?
ALSO this is Bergen County listeners. I'm especially on the lookout if 154.2800 (fire mutual aid) or 155.2800 (ambulance mutual aid) was used ANY TIME during the storm!!!
Hopefully getting power back by Monday

Ken and jaymatt, glad you are OK. Seaside Heights looks like it was wiped ocean to bay. Perhaps Elias will check in with a cell phone to let us know. News elsewhere suggests VZW has 97% of its NJ towers operating.

I got lucky here in central Burlington county. No power Mo 1930 - Tu 1515 but the UPS kept the router running for about 8 hours. Otherwise just smaller branches and twigs to pick up.

Wanted to check in myself, all ok here on Easten Long Island at my home. 3 days no power and phone nor internet access. Just branches down, no major damage at all. Glad I had a new 4000 watt generator I picked up on sale during the early summer. That thing ran like a champ and really helped with the fridge and a few lamps. But I am going to wirte a new book I think titled "Dining By Generator™" lmao.
Plug in the microwave and then move to the propane stove to cook this and that lol.

I hope Warren and everyone else is safe and ok. We have crews working in New Jersey and the cell systems are overloaded, can only communicate via text MSG. at this time.

Glad all is okay wirth you, Tom.

To Techy, my wife's sister and her husband live in Sag Harbor. They never lost power and had no damage at all. It's been business as usual there.

Now we wait for round 2, Wednesday. This one isn't supposed to be nearly as bad as Sandy, just a typical nor'easter, not that that's a good thing. The weather gurus are saying wind, rain, more than we got from Sandy, and tides 2 to 4 feet above normal. They're saying coastal flooding will be an issue because of all of the damage to the beaches from Sandy.

As for Warren, they are now allowing people back into Point Pleasant Beach, where he lives. My wife's best friend and her husband got back into their house today. They're 4 blocks from the ocean and the only damage they had was a little water in their garage. And, they have power. So hopefully, Warren is back home again and not dealing with any major damage.

That's good to hear. Judging by the address from Warren's amateur radio tag, it looks like he is also about 4 - 5 blocks back from the ocean at Point Pleasant.

Just going by the NBC on site news broadcasts, it looks like total devastation in that area. Maybe not quite as far back as Warren's address?

Cell systems must still be confuzzled. Around here the auto-change to EST was not made; the network thinks we are on Central time. Anyone here from Elias or Warren or fineshot yet?

Glad to hear that you are okay and hopefully your pets also.

I had contact with Fineshot1 a couple of days ago via email. He lives in northern Ocean County and is okay. No damage but he still didn't have power.

I'm OK, that was some ride. It's going to take NJ a long time to recover from this storm. Not much more I can say except, I hope everyone can recover from this and get their lives back to normal.

Thanks for calling and checking on me Tom. :)
