There will be one more control channel being turned on in the future. You do not want to add it to the scanner now as it is in use on the old system.

What Public Safety talk groups are still active on the "old" system? I'm fairly certain all PDs made the switch, but it sounds like only a few Fire/EMS agencies have come over (like those on FIRE RESP 1).

Just to confirm - if all you are interested in monitoring is public safety, it's probably safe to delete the Type-II system from my scanner, correct?

I noticed these were not in the DB. Have they been confirmed? If so, is there a layout as to what each one is for (such as the ole MIFD, MIPD, MIEM and MIOP channels)?

I can not confirm the TGID's are correct but that is the correct format. As far as I understand they will be shared by both police, fire and EMS and assigned by dispatch for use as needed.

I cannot confirm if the entire list is 100% correct but can confirm hearing a lot of activity on OPS-10 during St. Patrick's Day parade in Morristown.

I concur with the previous post, they seem to be assigned by the county communications dispatchers as needed and do not have predefined allocations/usages.

Is the County road department on the new system or did they remain on the old system.

The Ops talkgroup ID's are confirmed based on my logging and listening, I'm just not sure if there is a more specific usage than "Operations #" for each one.

Believe ONLY Public Safety has moved. I am pretty sure MAPS, MUA and CG1 & CG2 are still on the old system.

However I'm hearing activity on OPS-1 now and MIFD-1 on the old system. May be worth keeping the old one in until it's officially depreciated since we don't have a 1:1 talkgroup matchup.

To answer the OPs question, yes they are dynamically assigned by the Comm Center on an as needed basis. Some are patched during the cutover.

Thanks RocketNJ. I was inquiring since there are 25 "Ops" channels and usually 16 channels per zone in a portable. I didn't know if maybe FD had 1 through 16 assigned, etc. I heard MAC using 1 and St. Pattys in MOTown on 10, thought I'd throw it out there.

I also heard (well, not really) ENC on TG 270. Two Roxbury PD portables back and forth the other day for quite some time. I know it's been posted here previously...anyone have an alias for it?

Chauffeur6...anyone other than PD radios affiliate to that TG and any comms other than ENC? I can't run Unitrunker from here and just want some confirmation before I tag it "LE SECURE" and lock it out.

The two encrypted talkgroups with the most activity on them are 270 (10E) and 846 (34E)...note the clever use of the HEX ID. I haven't been tracking the system full-time for the past two weeks or so, but I just opened up two separate history windows for each encrypted talkgroup. I'll get back to you on what IDs I'm seeing for each by the end of the week.

Here's the list of RID's that have made calls on each of the two active encrypted TG's. This might give you some idea what each TG is used for. Note that they were using 270 as the test TG when the system first came online, so that might be skewed a bit. I've cleared the hits for both groups and I'll log for the next couple of days so you have some clean results.

Sounds like the county buses have moved over onto TG 770.

809 sounds like it may be Sheriff Ch. 3. Hearing units sign and off at several courthouses.
