I'm watching the system now in Pro96Com, and I'm seeing a LOT of 'Pvt Data' flying around. What's the deal with that?

A whole bunch of different radio ID's just flooding TG '0'...

I'm not familiar with Pro96Com...what exactly does "Pvt Data" refer to? There's nothing unusual in Unitrunker, just activity on Muni Law 1 and 4.

From my log (and notice the very last line is a valid TGID assignment). This is coming from the channel grant trace log:

Weird. I'm still not sure what PvtData even refers to. AVL or something, maybe?

I just confirmed that MUN PD 4 is patched to the Type-II, as the exact same traffic is coming across both systems.

Maybe everyone on that TGID hasn't completely made the switch just yet...

1282 is EMS Response 2. Just heard my friend running radio checks there.

Yes, it's still patched the same as Muni PD 1 was in the early stages.

1282 is confirmed as EMS Response 2

I'll make another submission for these in a few minutes.

It can be but probably is not limited to AVL data, that is probably the most common use case. It shows on PSIC from the maintenance radios regularly and one of the talking points for them moving to the new system was location tracking. I forget where I saw it but someone had posted about capturing and decoding the info contained in these transmissions and someone replied they are not simulcasted so you'd have to be near the radio itself to pick anything up on the assigned frequency.

Not sure if this is the right place to post so please don't beat me up if it is not. Can anyone explain what has to be done in FREESCAN to enter this system info. A screen shot of the system page would be great. Thanks in advance. The radio I want to program is a 396xt

FYI - If you look at the new P25 TGID's in hex, you will see the distinct pattern they choose in assigning them...

Yep, here are two other ones I noticed:

270 - 10E - This TG is encrypted

6417 - 1911 - This seems to be the Emergency TG

Is this system in production or just patched from the old Mot II for testing? Haven't heard anything in the past couple hours.

Unhappy New Morris County P25 system-Free Scan Program Upload

Uploaded the newest Project 25 Morris County system into my Uniden 396XT digital scanner and I have not heard anything on it. It has the latest TG's, including PD , FD and EMS. I have an ambulance portable radio next to me and I am hearing the EMS-2 response talk group transmitting and receiving with no problem.

This radio was upgraded with the new 9600 baud and the ASK by the techs from the County last night and sounds wonderful, but nothing is coming across my scanner. I also have been listening to Chatham's rebroadcast of MUN-PD 4 on 465.3125 and they have been busy all evening, but nothing on the scanner. I have uploaded the data at least 4 times juts to make sure I did it correctly. So far the only way to listen to a PD call is from the low audio UHF rebroadcast.

If anyone has any tips, hints, or advise it would be appreciated. Any setting in the scanner I need to modify or adjust or I have not done, if you are familiar with it would be appreciated as well. I feel like my 400 dollar scanner is now a brick too.

Thanks in advance.

Some information, the Long Hill Township site, known as Z-4 IR is using ONLY the new P-25 system. According to the County Tech last evening, apparently PSEG didn't want all the antennas. So that is why it is strictly a P-25 signal from that location and not a dual simulcast. When questioned he stated the other 3 sites are still using the old system as well as the new P-25 technology, IP based with Advanced System Keys for the radios.

The new system is on the air with the talkgroups that are in the database.

I just downloaded the system with FreeSCAN and everything looks fine.

Are you getting a good signal from the system? Is the scanner locked on the control channel? 478.000 is the current control channel, I would put the 396XT into quick search with that frequency to make sure you're hearing it (HOLD > 478.0 > HOLD).

EMS-2 hasn't been active on the new system all night, so I assume you're talking about a portable on the Motorola system? Muni PD 4 has been pretty active, so you should be hearing them.

I am also expeciencing issues hearing ANYTHING on the new system. Was working fine on my 396XT just the other day but wanted to add the new TG's and re-downloaded using Freescan to both my 396XT and 996XT this afternoon and neither seem to work.

I have full bar signal on the system when holding on 478.000 but am not hearing a control channel sound nor is it decoding TG's. I do see SID information. Strange! I am receiving the old TRS on both without any issues and the same signal strength.

I may have to take a drive to Mooney Mountain antenna area to see if that makes a difference.
