What he said...the DB has the correct new talkgroups as of today for PD, Fire and EMS. Radio IDs remained the same with the exception of the consoles, which are now in the 7xxxx series. The new console RIDS are following a pattern as well. And I must say the system sounds great. I monitored today from my PSR800 with the attached antenna inside the car all over the County today.

Trying to get this going on a BCD996T. I upgraded to the newest firmware 3.02.00. However, I don't seem to be picking up anything. I hear the regular MIRS system perfectly fine. Imported through FreeScan. Changed the system type like in previous posts.

Any thoughts?

Default Avoid BCD996XT Firmware v1.07.03

Just tried the new BCD996XT firmware v 1.07.03 that was released yesterday and it dosen't fix the LSM issue with being able to receive this system. Well I should say being able to "hear" this system. Receives and decodes TG's fine.

From other thread, I see you set P25 levels to default.

I'm sure you checked but just trying to help, did you set the System Type to P25 Standard (Digital XT) and Site Type to P25 Standard (digital XT) and remove the two freq's like mentioned in this thread? Your TG's are also set to Digital, correct.

If all ok, I'll go back to reading, and good luck....

Updated my 996XT firmware last night and can at least hear a little bit here and there now. I'm in Montclair with a RS Discone at 30'. My XTS2500 scanning the system channels is doing a MUCH better job attached to the same antenna, but that's not a shocker.

So I would suggest for people in Morris, definitely do the firmware upgrade.

PD 6 is this week, PD 2 is next week, and if all goes well with those, FD & EMS start migrating at the beginning of the 3rd week.

I would think you should be able to hear more that " a little bit hear and there" from Montclair. I live less than two miles from the antenna on Mooney Mountain in Roxbury and am getting full 5 bar signal strength and am not hearing any audio. I have quadrouple checked the systems settings and am 200% certain it is programmed correctly.

If I hold on the control channel if does decode the TG's which I can confirm are correct with my HP-1 side by side. This was the exact same issue that exists on both the BCD396XT and HP-1 prior to applying the latest fireware that address LSM for each radio. I do not believe the latest fireware for the BCD996XT properly fixes the LSM issue and it still needs to be re-addressed by Uniden.

With the rapid speed of the TG's migrating...I soon will have a radio that is useless. Near 90% of what I listen to is the Morris County TRS.

If you guys have those 996's connected to external/outdoor antennas, I would suggest A) turning ATT on and see if that helps and/or B) test it out with the telescoping back-of-set antenna that came with the scanner. Assuming you are close enough to the system that you'd get a decent signal without an outdoor antenna, of course.

With these simulcast systems, sometimes less is more. If the scanner is getting hammered with very strong signals from more than one site, it's not a good thing, regardless of whether the XT models have the LSM firmware installed.

As far as the T model, there is no LSM firmware for that scanner, so it may wind up not decoding the system properly at all. Try playing with the P25 Adjust Mode and P25 Adjust Level settings in addition to the attenuation and different antenna tests I suggested.

Default Morris County P25 TRS Upgrade

I'm just saying I heard NADA for 5 days until after the upgrade. I can barely get the type 2 system here either, for what it's worth...

It's been a VERY long time since I had my 396T, but I'll try and cover a few things from memory:

If you can set the scanner to control-channel only mode, do so, and only put in the 2 control channels listed in the database.

You have settings for the system type set as 'P25 Standard', and that's only for the XT model of scanners. I know Assaf has said the software changes the settings on the fly during the upload process once it's recognized what model it's connected to, but I suggest on the main system tab you set the system to 'Moto Type-II/P25', and on the site tab, set it to 'Moto P25/P25 Standard'. The 396T cannot differentiate different sites within a system like the XT can, and I believe that 'Site' setting I recommend will give your older model the proper configuration.

I am looking to upgrade my base scanner which is the 996T. I want to be able to listen to the P25 system. I live in Wash. Twp (Morris), so I think receiving won't be an issue. I am torn between 996XT and HP-1, unless there is some other suggestion.

No need to upgrade, I have 2 996T's scanning this system just fine.

You know, I thought that when I saw it, but I wasn't sure. Thanks!

What did you do to get to work? I have tried everything in this topic and can't get anything.

Default Morris County P25 TRS Upgrade

Used ARC996 by Butel. Went right in from the RR database with no issues.
