Default Site 18 ?

So a few weeks ago I got a DVB-T dongle as a new toy to play with and I stumbled across what appears to be an EDACS96 signal, however I can't seem to get the SID for it. The only info I do get is " EDACS96 3 Limbo ". It does appear to have traffic on it and with DSD running I do occasionally hear muffled voices, it appears on 851.138.500Mhz (assuming my dongle is calibrated semi accurately). Any clue who it might be? If it helps I'm located in Millville in Cumberland Co.

Thanks,

Rob

You're getting the Atlantic County EDACS system. 851.1375 is a frequency for Site 18 in Mays Landing/Egg Harbor City. EDACS systems do not have an SID like Motorola and P25 systems do. You should probably recalibrate the dongle after letting it heat up for a while first.

Ok Thank You! I am kinda surprised it would pick up that far using the stock antenna inside but it works for me :-)

You're only about 15 miles from that site, not too far.

What model are you using? I never even thought about using one of those for Unitrunker....what a great idea.

John, here's the setup I've been using, works pretty good and cost me next to nothing.

New FM DAB USB DVB T RTL2832U R820T with MCX Connector Antenna Hot Sell 90x28x15 | eBay

BNC Jack to MCX Plug Right Angle Pigtail Cable RG316 | eBay

I'm running SDR# with it. To pipe the audio into Unitrunker, you'll need either a soundcard that can support Stereo Mix, or you can use the Virtual Audio Cable program which works pretty well. I had a few extra PCI slots in my desktop, so I picked up two SoundBlaster PCI 16 (CT4740) cards I have dedicated to Unitrunker (one uses Line In for two tapped scanners split on the R and L channel, the other I use with SDR# to loop Stereo Mix through)

That is very similar to the one I am using, the only difference being that I got my from Amazon (and paid more). Mine also has the RTL2832U and R820T chip sets in it. I got this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o00_s00_i00 and it seems so far to work quite well, I will have to pick up an outside antenna and see how much that helps it.

I just bought one this morning. I'm not sure how I missed the boat on these, but you can't beat it for the price.

Yup, same exact one, it's just a matter of how long you want to wait to get it. I went the cheap route and waited a few extra days for it to get here from China. I like that he had the MCX to BNC pigtails also, worked out great with combined shipping.

You definitely cannot, it's pretty amazing how you can get up and running for so cheap. If you have a fairly strong signal on a trunked system, the crappy little antenna that comes with the dongle works surprisingly well. I had the little antenna setup on the desk indoors running ADS-B and was tracking planes 75+ miles away.
