Unhappy New Brunswick PD? Awfully Quiet

Did anything happen with the New Brunswick PD radio system? I've been monitoring 460.300 exclusively for the better part of the day (on a Pro-95), and they have been EXTREMELY quiet, much more so then if it was just a "slow day". There is still some activity though, for example, within the past half hour there was a taxi cab pulled over by the train station, and just now I heard "1 in custody on Neilson Street" and now "1-1 37 (return to station) with 1" but did not hear an initial dispatch on it. This has been it for the past half hour, normally even if it was a slow day, there would be much more radio traffic. I don't notice anything different on the RR db or the FCC database.

I really hope the NBPD didn't switch to the "dark side" as they were the busiest and one of the last interesting towns to listen to in this area. Anyone with any info? Or am I just being paranoid (in which case, I'm sorry for the thread).

Post New Brunswick NJ PD

I have not noticed any new ProVoice talkgroups besides the Milltown ones on my Pro-92 so far (no they don't decode on the scanner, just shows the talkgroup number with the raw digital voice). If anything changes, I'll post up. I also have not heard of any frequency changes for them; just that the Fire Dept. tested ProVoice about three years ago around the city. (see the jim-robbins.com/radio website for further info)

Same here: haven't noticed any new TG's on the county system, nor anything new in the FCC or RR databases, or Mr. Robbins website.

I seem to be hearing more now then I was earlier in the afternoon (when there were next to no transmissions), but it still seems quieter then usual. Not that this would be good either, but heres to hoping that they just had some type of problem with the radio system earlier in the day and are in the process of fixing it.

Sorry for the "false alarm" if that is what it ends up being, but its always good to have more ears listening, just incase

Sorry to bring up an old thread of mine, but rather then start a new one:

Does anyone have any idea if the NBPD (and NBFD for that matter) radio system got "zapped" by tonight's storms? I believe their transmitter is on the big tower off of Van Dyke Ave. We had a few big "booms" with bright lightning a bit earlier. Was listening to them earlier today, but since that line of t-storms passed through, they have been silent (on both my scanner and the RR Feed, still receiving RUPD, HP, and Medics on both).

On a related note, how would they communicate during a time like this? Haven't been hearing anything on the County TRS, and I *believe* I have all NB frequencies programmed. Cell phones I guess?

Anyway, sorry for my ramblings. Whatever problem they might be having, I hope they get up and running sooner than later.

EDIT: Just now heard the first transmission since prior to the thunderstorms. Oh well haha...
