I have been hearing much more activity on the Toms River EMS channel- 460.625. I have been hearing the "MED" units dispatched over the air here. Previously (or still) they were dispatched on TRPD 3, with full encryption. Anyone else notice this- did something change?

I don't always pay a lot of attention to EMS calls, but I did notice a couple of days ago dispatch was talking to one of the Med units on 460.6250 and was kinda wondering why they were on that channel.

The Med units are no longer under the direction of the police, they are now under OEM so it makes sense to put them on EMS 1. I started hearing them a couple of weeks ago. All of the med unit rigs now have Toms River Township EMS on them.

What is the PD Channel 3 used for now, or going to be used for? I have all of the TRPD channels locked out due to encryption. When and why did the EMS units move to OEM direction?

There's an article somewhere on the net that explains why,I can't seem to find it. As for channel 3 the DB lists it for Park Rangers, Animal Control, Auxiliary Police usage.

Interesting as I must have missed all this. I certainly will enjoy listening to the EMS calls if they stay on 460.625!

Well that makes perfect sense, now I get it. Thanks for the link.
On a side note: Have you ever heard anything on the OEM channel (460.55)? Occasionally I will hear random key-ups, but never voice.

Never heard any voice on there either,I have it locked out due to the random keyups.

Same here. Randon key ups, no voice. I thought for sure it would be active during Superstorm Sandy, but heard nothing on it the entire time.

Yeah, me neither. All during Sandy it was not used once. This used to be the old MDT channel when TRPD was on VHF. Are we certain this frequency is still used? Has anyone ever heard voice traffic on it?
