3311 Sounds like it is South Express. All the references are in Central/South Jersey.

Are any of the trucks complaining about issues with coverage on the new system? The Oyster Creek site isn't able to be received until you're in Lanoka Harbor at least. It looks like they're running these with way less power than the old system.

I haven't heard too much. This could even be just a patch into the old system testing out coverage and fine tuning things. I can't think of any other reason why I would get south express on Harmony.

Also, everything has been FDMA so far.

Everything should be FDMA as the system is Phase I only,I'd rather have the old system back than this....

Definitely not a patch. Units are natively operating on the P25 system. For one thing, the South Simulcast of the SmartZone system has been shut down, so there's nothing to patch any talkgroups to down there. As far as the North Simulcast of the SmartZone system, there is no activity on that system that matches the activity on the P25 system.

Most likely explanation for hearing what might be a south talkgroup on northern sites is that someone is affiliated with that talkgroup on the Harmony site. No different than how the NJICS system works.

Less power and directional antennas, all designed to focus the RF where they feel it's needed most. Gone are the days of booming omnidirectional antennas and wide area simulcasts with these types of regional or statewide trunked systems.

Just like with the 700 MHz NJICS system, the goal these days is to maximize channel efficiency by using individual sites and small simulcast cells instead of wide area simulcasts, where radio traffic is only carried on a particular site if a radio is affiliated with that site, otherwise nothing but silence.

Good for making the most of channel resources, bad for people with scanners who are used to the very wide area coverage of the old system, which carried every talkgroup across the simulcast cell.

Understandable, but I can receive NJICS all over with no issues other than simulcast distortion. This system I can barely receive while driving through central and northern Ocean County at all.
