All, in this snow the DPW’s will be out, hard at work.

I seem to notice the DB does not have DPW channels for Wanaque(in Passaic County), and Oakland(in Bergen).

I can only assume they have active channels, based on the fact I’ve seen brand new trucks with low-band antennas.

For Oakland, on the same license as PD, it shows 45.26.

For Wanaque, their license shows 45.48. Which is also license to Pompton Lakes.

I programmed both of those in, and am listening.

Any help identifying those are appreciated!

I'm getting a PL of 100.0 on the Oakland frequency. Sure sounds like snowplow operations to me.
Another one to keep an ear on is 37.66 which is Butler DPW and their Power & Light.
A friend informed me earlier that the DPW runs simplex while the Power & Light runs on a repeater, but was unable to confirm if they both run the same tone.

10-4.

Hrmm, can’t pick up the Oakland frequency from here. How strange...must be a different repeater then.

As for the VHF, good to know. I’ll plug that in.

Thanks for checking it out.

Also, for butler power and light. That tone is correct. I heard that the other day. They were on a call.

Hey Ken.

I’ll give those UHF’s a shot. Wonder if those are UHF portables for PD?

Welp I’m gonna plug that in.

For Wanaque, those are the police and fire/ems. So those are out.

Interesting...I couldn't confirm for sure that it was Oakland. Maybe it's something else?
I can barely receive it here, so unfortunately I can't be of much help.

I know the tone is correct for the power and light, but am unsure if the DPW runs that same tone, another tone, or just no tone at all.

Thanks K2YYN! I'll put those in and see if I get anything.

Gotcha.

Welp, it has to be Oakland...

It’s on their license...

I have all of these in.

Let’s see what we get.

I’m hearing activity on 45.48

Keep an ear out on that. The chatter is sporadic.

45.48 confirmed Wanaque DPW.

Submitted to our DB. Thanks K2AJB

There are also other agencies listed on this frequency as well, to be noted. Unfortunately, no PL/DPL specific to Wanaque. At least that I saw tonight monitoring.

Is 45.26 confirmed for Oakland ?, on the database shows 45.56 as fire/ems/dpw ?

From a source of mine who is involved in Oakland, I was told 45.26 is a repeater input. As to what, I’m not sure. This same source said DPW use 46.56. 156.7

45.56 is listed as a PD Tac channel.

I monitored that during the storm from Ringwood(right next door) and didn’t hear a peep on 45.26.

45.2600 100.0 is probably the input to 45.9800 100.0 Oakland PD. They also use vehicle repeaters on 45.980 and 46.5600 in the 458-465 range. Fire uses 151.3775 123.0 for fireground.

Yup, 45.26 is the input to 45.98. My source didn't mention anything about vehicular repeaters, but he did specify that DPW uses the same frequency/PL as Oakland FD/FAS. (46.56)

Guys. Didn’t want to start a new thread, so I’ll continue it here...

We have Wanaque figured out, I’d like to turn some attention back to Oakland.

Searching the RR FCC ULS, I see 2 repeater channels listed to them:

453.0500 (I was in Wanaque, and heard it pretty clearly with a PL of 162.2)

It says PW under the license. But I thought it may have been fire ops/FG, because there was a brush fire that cleared just a short while before I heard suspected Oakland activity.

Based on the way Oakland does their dispatching, it doesn’t sound like them.

And

460.2875

Both repeater channels under the license WQAG350.

As always, any help appreciated
