Default NJ Campus Police

Can anyone help fill in the blanks? I'm looking for frequency and
especially the PL for the following:

Montclair State University Police
UMDNJ-Newark Police
NJIT-Newark Police
Fairleigh Dickenson Police
Rutgers-Newark Police

Thanks in advance!

Good Question, when i used to go to NJIT, i had a difficult time trying to find some data that was registered in their name. The only frequencies i ever found was the maintenece for the residence halls, and the frequency that the RAs used (they used GMRS, so it was easy). Hopefully someone will know on this board.

One to try off the top of my head is 155.895 MHZ.
This is licensed to colleges & universities statewide. Or at least it was years back.

155.895 is used by Brookdale College PD, at least that's the info I have. I have not verified it, but it's listed for them on a number of frequency lists I have. Don't have a PL. I'll stick it in my scanner today and see if I can hear anything and possibly get a PL. Will report any findings here. By the way, for anyone not familiar, they're located in Middletown Twp.

Most of this info is from about 5 years ago; I have confirmed NJIT within the past month, but none of the others. Back in those days, R-N police used the same Fx and PL as Rutgers-New Brunswick-area, but in simplex mode. They have since licensed a repeater on it, with a different input than the New Brunswick channel. They may have also changed the PL in order to avoid interference.

If you are searching for state college/university licenses, look also for records where the licensee is the State of New Jersey. Usually you'll see a give-away somewhere in the "Attention" or site fields.

NJIT Police = 156.015 / 100.0 (KNDT274)
Rutgers-Newark Police = 155.685R / D023 (WPBU238)
Essex County College Security = 155.82 / 156.7 (KNFS822)
UMDNJ-Newark Police = 477.1375R / 110.9 (KZA727)

Ok here is what I have assembled from several sources so far:

<UPDATED on 4/8/04>

477.13750R 110.9 UMDNJ-Newark Police
472.0000R D172 UMDNJ-Newark Police
501.4250R ? UMDNJ-Camden Police
464.3750R 136.5 UNDNJ-Piscataway Police
460.3625R 192.8 Montclair State Univ. EMS
461.9625R D411 Montclair State Univ. Police
155.8950 ? Ramapo State College Security
156.0150 100.0 NJIT Police
155.8200 156.7 NJIT Police - Coordination with Essex County College
156.0150 100.0 Newark College of Engineering - NJIT Police
155.7150R 74.4 William Paterson University Police
464.4750R 94.8 Fairleigh Dickenson University-Madison Police
464.4750R ? Fairleigh Dickenson University-Teaneck Police
155.6850R 136.5 Rutgers-Newark Police F1
155.8950 156.7 Rutgers-Newark Police F2
155.8200 156.7 Rutgers-Newark Police - Coordination with Essex County College
155.7900 110.9 F1 Rutgers-Piscataway/New Brunswick Police
155.6850R 110.9 F2 Rutgers-Piscataway/New Brunswick Police Dispatch
155.8200 ? Rutgers-Camden Police
464.3750R ? Rutgers Medical School Police - different than Rutgers Campus PD
155.8950 ? Brookdale County College of Monmouth Police
155.8950R 123.0 Kean University Police F1
156.0150 123.0 Kean University Police F2
155.8950 103.5 The College of New Jersey EMS
463.4250R 94.8 The College of New Jersey Police
464.4750R ? Stevens Institute of Technology Police
155.8200 156.7 Essex County College Police
156.0150R 162.2 Unknown School - heard activity on this frequency with this PL.

Please help fill in the PL tones (marked with question marks) or provide corrections/additoins. The one frequency that is difficult to sort out is the statewide one of 155.895. This is also used by Harrison, NY police in Westchester County with a PL of 173.8 and I usually have no problem picking them up all the way in Morris County so it's hard to figure out the others with Harrison's signal coming in as well.

NJIT and Rutgers-Newark have 155.82 for coordination with Essex County College. The listing for NCE/NJIT with a PL of 162.2 is not currently valid -- they use 100.0 as you list above. (NCE is located right on the main NJIT campus in Newark, they don't have separate services.)

I'm showing UMDNJ-Piscataway Police as 464.375R/136.5.
TCNJ 155.895 is now for their EMS and maintenance, they reportedly use a PL of 103.5 but I haven't confirmed.
TCNJ Police is 463.425R/94.8 (confirmed).
Rutgers-NB/P police also have 158.790R/110.9.

Depending on how far you want to take the list:
Mercer County Comm. College police/security is 501.8625R/D023.
Middlesex County College police/security use Edison's TRS (APCO encrypted, primary) and Middlesex County's TRS (EDACS analog, secondary use).
Princeton University uses a Mot TRS.

Nice job compiling all this.

Rutgers-Newark confirmed as 155.685R/D023
NJIT & ECC confirmed as listed above. No clue who 156.015R/162.2 might be.

I mis-identified Rutgers-Newark Police before. They use a DPL of 023 on 155.685R. PL of 136.5 was incorrect. Sorry for any confusion.

464.4750R 073DPL FDU Teaneck/Hackensack Public Safety
464.4750R 073DPL FDU Madison Public Safety

Both campuses utilize the same frequency/DPL. I don't believe they interfere with each other because of the distance apart.

857.7125R 025DPL Bergen Community College Paramus Security

461.8250R 411DPL Ramapo College Mahwah Security

464.4750R 162.2PL Stevens Institute of Technology Hoboken Police

464.4750S 162.2PL Passaic County Community College Paterson Maintenance
464.5000S 162.2PL Passaic County Community College Paterson Public Safety

Note that both Stevens and PCCC also have the same frequency/PL combination, however do not interefere either.

Default TCNJ Campus Police

The College of New Jersey's EMS (old trenton state - Ewing, NJ) operates 155.895 / the correct PL is 94.8, not 103.5. This is the old VHF police channel, and they still use it as a backup and for major events. (like graduation) Night maintenace can also be heard on this frequency if contacted by police dispatch.

William Paterson University 155.7150 / 74.4 / KSK477 - Licensed to the State of New Jersey is the main police frequency. There is 154.6250 / 74.4 / KZA542 - Which is licensed to William Paterson University is used as a maintenance channel during the day and at night for student patrol and safe ride. If you listen to either, make sure you have the PL set because lots of outside agencies use these frequencies.
