Can my Pro-97 pick up Encrypted talkgroups?

my scanner has EDACS, I know I can't get the Digital, maybe Encrypted.

I'm going up there for the summer, and want to try and program my scanner, so I can hear ABQ Action. I used to live there, so going to be with family, and stay with my cousin thats a COP. ))

No, the only thing you will be able to monitor is APD and AFD Dispatch.

Yes, your scanner can pick up Encrypted TG's, however, you won't be able to understand them, or decode them, for that is illegal.

So it is Illegal for Everyone to decode them, so that they can understand them?

Or are there some scanners that can pick them up?

Yes, it is illegal for anyone to decrypt an encrypted signal.

The ABQ EDACS system has nothing to do with encryption. They use a Digital signal that a scanner can't decode. It has nothing to do with crypto.
