Special operations squadron moving to Cannon Air Force

CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. (AP) - The 3rd Special Operations Squadron that flies unmanned aerial vehicles is moving to Cannon Air Force Base beginning in June.


The squadron is currently located at Chreech Air Force Base in Nevada. It currently flies the MQ-1 Predators and plans to do high-altitude training at the Melrose Range.


Members of New Mexico's congressional delegation say the move brings an additional 85 officers and 155 enlisted personnel to Clovis.


This is the second announcement this month about a new squadron being assigned to Cannon.


The Air Force announced May 13 that the 16th Special Operations Squadron is moving to Clovis, bringing about 600 military personnel and 300 contractors.
