Posted: January 13th, 2009 11:27 AM GMT-05:00
Journal Staff ReportAlbuquerque Journal (New Mexico)

The new air traffic control tower at the Double Eagle II airport will be officially opened Monday, according to a news release from Mayor Martin Chávez's office.
Construction on the $2.8 million tower was completed in January 2007, but its opening was by problems acquiring the proper equipment.
Much of the money for the tower came from a 2003 congressional appropriation.

Hey Erik you beat me to it, lol. The "local control" is the approach freq. Heard it while listening to Albuq Air, "contact double eagle towner 121.62." Wonder why they didn't include the whole 121.625.

Cuz our radios only have 2 digits past the "." ie. I'd only put in 121.62 into the radio.
