Default 927.900 WD9CMS Repeater in Los Alamos

I have a 900 Mhz. repeater in Los Alamos that is an open repeater. It has an input frequency of 902.900 and an output frequency of 927.900 with a PL of 131.8 Hz for access please feel free to use it. If you can only monitor signal reports would be great. It has been on the air for a couple of months and has good coverage in parts of Santa Fe and ST Road 14 almost to Interstate 40 with a mobile radio. It has handheld coverage in Los Alamos , high parts of Santa Fe to the southwest and Espanola to the north . It is interesting to see the propagation differences at 900. The WD9CMS 444.775 +5 Mhz. 131.8 hz. PL system is still running after 20+ years and is collocated with the 900 repeater. Please feel free to use either repeater any time your in the area.

Sincerely,

Bill, WD9CMS

Good to see more 900mhz activity out there! W5BI has 902.7/927.7 PL 100.0 going down in Rio Rancho..Not sure of the current coverage, as I know he's changed equipment since I've moved away. 900 is a fun band to play with. Brings a whole definition to the term "HOTSPOTS"

900 Mhz, is very different.....I was able to use the 927.700 repeater when it was on Sandi Crest as part of the Megalink. I have not been able to access it from its Rio Rancho location. I have even tried from Albuquerque with no luck a few weeks ago. I am not sure if it is up and running at this time. If you still come out this way give the repeaters a try.

Hey, great to see another 900 machine in NM.
I'll be up in Los Alamos next week and will give it a try.
I'm staying in Santa Fe, but driving up each morning.
The 927.7 in RR is linked to his 440 machine and 147.10, but is at his home (I think).
I miss the 900 crowd I hung out with in Las Vegas, NV before moving here 5 years ago.

I was surprised to hear Dave N7JEI today on the system from Los Lunas New Mexico. Unfortunately conditions were not good enough to carry on a conversation. Will keep trying and maybe expand the system to the south so that we have more activity on 900Mhz.

I changed mobile antennas to a 5db roof mount rather than the 1/2 wave ngp and can hear the uhf link in Santa Fe from around Los Lunas and ABQ! I did hear you try to call back! Unfortunately, the only place I get a stable signal is in the middle of the freeway overpass... and can't really stop there for a QSO!

Dave,

Thanks for the signal report. The antennas for the UHF link are now on the roof of my house on the south side of Santa Fe. There is an omni for the eventual 444.875 (or perhaps 444.675 depending on how the coordination works out.) and a beam pointed at WD9CMS for the link to 444.775. The link radios are currently configured as a repeater (as you know) and are on the omni right now to get a feeling for coverage of the eventual 875 (675) machine. The spec'd bandwidth for the antenna is 430-450, and it is operating out of that spec on the link radios right now. Hopefully it will only get better.

As a side note -- the WD9CMS 927.900 machine is linked to the UHF repeater, and I can bring that up full quieting from the UHF side, even on the omni antenna, so that should be pretty solid when we get the link with the beam going and get the duplexer out of that signal path.

Another side note -- I am starting to think about collecting the stuff to build a 900 MHz repeater to hard link to the UHF repeater at my house. I need to finish the UHF repeater, but the wheels are turning.

Dave
