Default Ojo Fire

Hey,

Anybody catch any air tanker action today? I found out about the fire too late to catch the action.

SWCC has not ordered any freqs yet, so I guess they may be using initial attack from the mob guide. There will be an air attack plane tomorrow.

I was making a run to winslow and back today and heard some radio traffic on 168.65? Flight Following? It sounded more like some coordination or something. Didn't get it all. Boy, I could sure see the smoke plume around noon from down in Los Lunas. Sad when the trees burn.

168.65 is National Flight Follow.

Being from Los Alamos, I feel for the people who lost houses. It is a real life changer.

It is another wake up call for those of us who live in the woods to build a defensible space around our houses.

Ironically, this has been a healthy fire for the Ponderosa forest because it has not crowned (according to a spokesperson last night) and has cleaned out the forest floor.

Hopefully the promised snow will come and put the brakes on this fire so that dwellings can be protected.
