Default Looking For Frequencies

I bought my very first scanner two days ago and am having fun with it. It will be a tool for me to use at work. I have figured out how to program frequencies, but there are alot of buttons I have no clue on. For instance the trunking key. Am I suppose to use that when programming the frequencies? Additiionally, I was trying to find Yellow Cab's frequency in Las Vegas (Clark County) Nevada. I tried the two listed on the business website of 152.45000 I get a signal but I can't make it out lots of interference, 152.27000 has no transmissions. Thank you.

Welcome. First off, what scanner are you using? Each scanner will be programmed a little differently, so your answer will no doubt come from someone with the same scanner that you have. I programmed my Pro-162 by hand and the Trunk button was used to program the trunking I.D.'s, but that took a lot of time; days, not hours. The trunking system for Clark County looks quite extensive, so you'ld be better served with the software.

I'm using a Radio Shack Pro 164. The store programmed all the county frequencies( police, fire, sherrif etc). I am looking to get Yellow Cabs frequency. As stated earlier, I looked up the frequency but the scanner doesn't pick it up. I can't imagine that is the case. I believe I must have something wrong for I have the frequencies of the other cabs in Las Vegas. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

I'm not sure about the cab frequencies you're asking about; you'ld propably get a better response in the Nevada forum. As for trunking with the 164 - yes, the trunking key is used for entering I.D.'s. I would do a search for Mark's Easier To Read Manuals. It will help you a lot better that RS's printed manual.
