This is a great website and forums that I’ve been hovering around for some time now. I learned how to record our department’s transmissions some time ago and use them on our website because of the information found here. Now that we have been pretty successful at that I have been toying with the idea of streaming. I’m pretty sure you guys know something about that.
My background consists of a low budget op run out of my den with an old radio shack PRO-2026. My Realistic Pro-2021 fried 2 nights ago.
I’ll save all the bandwidth and programming questions for later. Now its all about thanks for the information.
Welcome to the radio fun spot, you've made a good choice joining this group, Hey is the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad still in operation up there? last I heard, they were experiencing financial difficulties. Take care.
For now I was looking at just limiting the streaming to Bangor primary/tac, for a couple of reasons. First, I'm recording and archiving it for the website and I don’t want anything else interfering with the traffic. Second I'm not sure what kind of bandwidth issues I'm going to run into with Fairpoint. I'd figure to start small and grow into it, we will see how it goes. The recording and posting was pretty simple. I have listened to the Penobscot/Hancock feed and it is just too busy for my purposes. I find it hard to follow incidents in Bangor with the traffic of 2 counties. Some of the people I work with feel the same way about listening to that feed and want to just listen to Bangor. At least that is how I got started working on this.
The Bangor & Aroostook Railroad line is still active through downtown. In fact the state is looking at dumping additional money into rail.
