Default OMG..wx alert scared me

Does that thing really need to be that loud..PLEASE tell me there is a way to turn that down...if not gonna have to find a way to turn it off. lol...was sitting here with the scanner right in front of me about two foot away, weather was looking bad so I hit the wx button..two sec later they had an alert...scared the bejesus out of me..like to fell off the chair...it was SSOOOO LLOUUUD.

So what is the brand/model of "that thing"? Keep in mind it is supposed to be a weather ALERT!

LOL...sorry, BCD996XT...ya I understand alert...but man-o-man, Uniden needs to put a warning on that ...if it is going to that loud, or at least have it also automatically switch to the local EMS, that way as your laying on the floor from a heart attack you can monitor the ambulance coming for you...

Lol don't feel bad had the same happen to me too,I have the GRE PSR-600.

They are loud hehe.

No way to turn down. The goverment requires it to be loud. It is a alarm.

Thanks for the replies, thought it might be that way....note to self....DO NOT depress WX button during bad weather, with face two foot from unit while sitting at the bar in den....
