Re uploading; You can select only those systems you want to upload - You can change that by selecting/deselecting the systems you want in the white area on the left. Just click on the box - if it's got a green check mark, it's going to be sent - if white, it won't

Trunking systems require the use of site quick keys and group quick keys. Just like conventional systems, you need a quick key for every site, and one for each group. On the trunked system setup form, make sure the quick key pulldown says 'by site'.

When you're done, go to 'Tools/System Quick Key Manager' and you can see what keys are allocated to what systems and sites. This is also where you can enable/disable system and site quick keys. In the user guide, it's described here...

Yes, if you select the option in FreeScan to update your quick keys, all of them are updated at once. It will not update all systems unless you tell it to. Look at the systems that are checked when you bring up the form - if everything is checked, everything is uploaded. You can de-select the ones you don't want by clicking on the system again - if the check box is white, it won't update it.

While you can assign multiple systems to the same quick key, that's very inflexible - if you turn off SQK5, you shut off an awful lot of sites. In addition I see you've got a few systems without any quick keys - they won't get scanned. I would also narrow your list of sites - undoubtedly you're not going to be able to hear every one, depending on where you are and your antenna arrangement. Find out which site(s) are closest to you. That saves you resources. If you don't know, try asking on the Louisiana forum.

'SQK' is pretty much an accepted abbreviation for either SYSTEM quick key (when talking about conventional systems) or SITE quick key (when talking about trunked systems)

If it were me, I'd have a couple of different configurations - one for when I was home, and one for traveling. That keeps everything pretty simple because it forces you to concentrate on exactly how you want to hear things (I do this with my 396 - in fact I have several configurations, depending on where I'm traveling). In my 'home' configuration, I only have systems and sites that are nearby to me - that insures that I will hear only those things that are local. One of my traveling configurations takes me through Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey - so I have a separate set of things I want to hear. It's a snap to load up a new configuration.

To that end, you need to be familiar with what site(s) are closest to you. It wastes resources to have stuff in your configuration that you can't scan (because you're too far away). I would concentrate on those sites only, and assign each a separate SQK.

Now if you really want to keep a single configuration, and you're using the scanner in a car, then you have the option of using Location Based Scanning. This allows you to have a GPS that will enable and disable things as you drive without fumbling with a lot of button pushing while you're driving (I sure wish my old 396 had that capability, but it doesn't...)

I would use a simple configuration first, then slowly build on it as you get more proficient. I think you've got a lot of stuff here, and it can be a bit overwhelming. If you build something simple to start, you learn as you go
