Question Monitoring Mobile Data Computer (MDC's)

I have read this forum for quite some time and I find a lot of the information provided here extremely useful, however there is one issue that has finally convinced to create an account and post here. I live in Dallas, Texas and monitor Dallas Fire-Rescue almost exclusively, as of late I have been reading more on MDC decoding and I was curious what equipment and information would I need to intercept and decode the information being sent to an MDC that is on a DFD apparatus, if that is even possible in my area. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am not all that naive on scanning, but quite a bit so as far as MDC and Motorola services.

It's illegal to decode MDTs in the US.

See this thread for more info:

Most of the time, when people are talking about MDC, they are referring to MDC1200, which allows analog radios to have nifty digital features like having radio IDs, emergency buttons, radio specific paging and such.

Thank you to both of you, I am afraid I grew up into digital scanners only so the MDC references were lost on me, but confused me as I was sure MDC/MDT monitoring had to be illegal... but then again i have seen crazier allowed. Thanks again for the quick answer and resolution.

or Mobile Data Computers, which for the OP are encrypted.
