I personally just use a simple audio cable from headphone jack to computer and use Audacity to record any audio I come across. Audacity includes a feature to truncate the audio recorded to cut out any silence in between. The downside of this is that it's a very simple record function and won't keep timestamps or tell you what exactly was recorded.

I am aware that there are software out that will do more advanced stuff like timestamps and such (IDTracker comes to mind), but I haven't had experience with them. A quick search on the forum should provide feedback on the software available. Keep in mind some software only support certain scanners.

Hope this helps!

I have an HP1 which will allow for the scanner itself to record the audio without any need for external cables. If I miss something I have a premium membership on Broadcastify and am able to tap into the archives there to get what I want.
