Default Help programming Pro-96, Clinton County MI

Hi,
I have a PRO-96. I am trying to program it for Clinton County, MI. I specifically want to hear police and fire.

Right now, I get most fire, and hardly any police. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. When I listen to the "Live Audio" here on Radio Reference, I'm definitely missing some transmissions.

I am using ARC96 with a PRO subscription to Radio Reference. I'm able to download the frequencies, and put them into talkgroups (one TG for the EDACS, another for all conventional freq's).

Any ideas?

I think there is some teminology confusion.

A talkgroup is in a trunking system, which is assigned to a specific use. Functionally, it is like a channel in a conventional radio.

A scan list is made up of talkgroups or channels you want to listen to. I am not the moat familiar with the Pro-96, but I believe it has 20 scan lists available. I do not know if you can mix talkgroups and conventional channels in the same scan list.

Assuming you used the Arc96 software to program in the county's system, and since you are hearing some traffic, I will assume the LCN assignments are correct. That makes me think that you have the law enforcement talkgroups assigned to different scan lists than the one(s) you have the fire talkgroups assigned to, and that the law enforcement scan lists are not selected.

Thanks for your help. You are correct, I was getting the terms mixed up.

I do have two scan lists (the software refers to them as Bank 0, Bank 1. More are available, but empty). Right now, I have conventional frequencies on Bank 0, and the EDACS with talkgroups on Bank 1.

I do receive some fire, but noticed that I was missing some transmissions between Central Dispatch and Fire. I know this because I was listening to the "live audio" on the radioreference website and that stream was pulling in more than my scanner.

If You will look closer the Sheriff is digital, but the bad thing is it's ProVoice, and there is no scanner without a tap, and software that can decode it, and I'm not sure about that.

System Type: EDACS Standard
System Voice: ProVoice and Analog

I should have thought to look for that.

Pro-96 has ten Banks, no ScanLists. You can mix motorola trunked systems with conventional frequencies together, not EDACS. The TGID's for the PD is Digital, and cannot be heard on any scanner. You can, however, listen to anything that has Analog TGID's. There may be a way with a tap and software to hear. Don't quote me on that.
Hope this makes it a bit clearer for you
