I have an older Radio Shack Scanner (Early 80's) I have no trouble putting in 6 digit frequencies (123.456) but some frequencies are 7 digits. (123.4567). Am I not able to put these longer frequencies in this old of a scanner?
As long as the signal is reasonably strong you should have no problems, If it's weak, then you might run into some distortion issues. Won't damage your scanner at all, but your ears might be another issue :.>>
You'll find that the scanner will likely round up or down to the nearest available channel. Some of the better older scanners have a step size capability - which one is it?
Welcome. You will find sevier co law is in the dark with the exception of pigeon forge police (you'll need a digital scanner). You should be able to pick up a handfull of the sevier co fire departments with that scanner. Who are you wanting to monitor?
I can confirm that you should be able to recieve these conventional frequencies:
460.50000 100.0 PL Countywide Law Enforcement (911)
454.10000 136.5 PL Sevier County Fire/EMS Page Channel
453.38750 CSQ Sevierville Fire Dept Dispatch
453.85000 100.0 PL Gatlinburg Fire and Rescue Dept
154.31000 103.5 PL Seymour VFD
453.73750 136.5 PL Pitman Center VFD
453.51250 173.8 PL Catons Chapel VFD
You could also recieve these with some new equipment:
Pigeon Forge Police is on a P25 Phase I digital trunked system.
Sevier Co Fire, EMS, Police sometimes use the Land Air Systems LTR system.
Sevier Co Sheriff is on a mototurbo system that youll need DSD and a tapped reciever.
You'll probably recieve the conventional ones if you type in the closest frequency that you can get to the actual frequency. You'll just have to try and see.
