Bit of background: relatively new Ham (General) with Yaesu FT-450D. Just also got into SWL and utilize a Tecsun PL-880 for SW, FM, AM.

Want to begin listening to the air bands.

Do not know if best to go with another portable to get the airbands (i.e.-Tecsun PL-660 or C Crane Skywave or ?) or if I would be better off with a handheld scanner (know nothing much about which).

Will use primarily inside the shack.

Suggestions and help from the pros out there please.

Many thanks!

Jeff

well some mobiles copy the air band, 108-135 am, kenwood d700 and d710. My alinco dr135 does. Mant hts do, though I thinh the receive is better on an airband dedicated receiver. I scanner in the shack, with an outside antenna should be adequate. Probably cheaper too.

You have already asked about the TM-V71 in another post. That should be more than adequate to monitor the air band.
