Hi to all. I live in california .a town called hayward zip code is 94541 .
I am thinking about starting to play with this hobby.
I would like some advise on buying my first portable scanner , my price range will be around $100- to $150.00 dollars , i would just like to hear the sherriffs department. maybey the fire department?

According to DB Sheriff is on a Digital Trunking System.
Unless you're willing to buy used or spend a bit more not going to be able to listen in to them.

Hayward City looks to be on Analog UHF.

To start, the BC125ATC, or 125AT if you can find one. Your city in analog, conventional. The county is Phase I, P-25 digital.
So, if you just want to hear your city, the 125 is the way to go cheap.

hi locals haywardian! happy too see im not the only one in hayward .
so i went to amazon, . an brought the bc125at for 95.00 dollars .more than with in budget . it supposed to get here on monday . no doubt i will need help programing it lol lo . thank you to all for there help ;-
