My local police, Upper Saucon Township in Center Valley Pa. is listed with a frequency elsewhere, but not here... elsewhere it says it is "Private".... what does that mean?

Try 159.150, KRT 686 1 BASE 20 Mobiles. Many in Lehigh Cty have frequencies that they describe as private. They may just be tactical frequencies for the city, rather than county wide.

Found an old post (10 years ago) that said that Upper Saucon Township Police uses 159.1500.

http://forums.radioreference.com/pe...4897-lehigh-county-pa-police-frequencies.html

Found another from 6 months ago stating a few small police departments including Upper Saucon use the county police "South" frequency. 158.8350 tone 186.2. Could be why the 159.1500 frequency isn't in the database here anymore?

It's not uncommon for small police departments to be dispatched by the county, yet remain an independent department.

You may ask to have this thread moved to the Pennsylvania forum so a local can chime in on your question.

the 159.15 is in the FCC database for the county. It was listed under Upper Saucon though it may not be active but still current. But looking at a 10 year old posting, thats dedication.

As far as I am aware Upper Saucon is on Lehigh County PD South. 158.835 PL 186.2 It is possible that they may still use 159.150 for unit to unit comms. According to the RR wiki, they would be 400 units.

It is my understanding that when Lehigh went to the full fledged 911 county system, all PD, FD, and EMS were brought into the county system for dispatch and the frequencies they used were also brought into the Lehigh County system. Many of the "old" frequencies are still used but now may be listed under the county and not the department.
