• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello. At my work we use Kenwood TK-3300 4 channel and have had nothing but problems with them, so I decided to pickup a little handy talky just for at work. I've figured out what frequencies we're operating on (which none of them are what appear as the built in channels in the Kenwood manual) and I can receive without any problems, but I cannot figure out any way to transmit. I know the Kenwoods have a built in "voice scrambler" and I've tried CTCSS 67.0Mhz - 254.1 Mhz and every DCS 023N - D754N and cannot crack it. Any help would be appreciated

If you can hear traffic on your Baofeng, it isn't likely that voice scrambling is an issue. If you're testing the radios and transmitting with one while right next to another, you may be desensing the receive radio and skewing your test results. Do you have a repeater in the mix? Maybe your offset is incorrect.

To OP: Voice scrambler has nothing to do with CTCSS or DCS. That is why these radios are not designed for out of band use [see numerous threads on this]. I doubt that the Baofeng will be better than the Kenwoods. And just what problems are you trying to over come that occur with the Kenwoods? Maybe it has nothing to do with the radios. You also might what to look at the Threads posted under budget radios if you have not already as these Baofeng make lousy scanners.

The issues with the Kenwoods are sometimes they don't want to transmit. Other times they don't want to receive. Sometimes the transmissions have lots of static and they don't like to work from one side of the plant to the other.

With the Baofeng I can transmit on that frequency, I just can't get the squelch to open so nothing goes through. You can see the light come on the Kenwoods, but that's it.

Right now I just use it to receive because regardless of where I am inside the building or out, I can at least receive ask the transmissions

From what I can tell it's like I need to get the CTCSS right and that's why the squelch won't open and I have a feeling that these Kenwoods are using a non Standard CTCSS
