What is this on Commack road, Long Island...

Anyone have any clue what this is or who owns it? Its on Commack road just south of LIE next to Pilgrim State. . I saw a mast with antennas on it and will post a pic as soon as I'm there with the camera..

I forget what they call them but I believe they are associated with aircraft radio navigational facilities.

Yep, that's a VOR for aircraft. I have one a couple of miles from my house.

So what is a VOR do exactly? Will I receive any voice if I have my scanner on close call???
