Aside from 453.175 which is referred to as Colden Tower, Mercy Flight also has a few talk groups on Saia Communications 400 MHz trunked system. Years back they used to be on FM Communications trunked system.

There are only few counties that still use low band. The majority have upgraded. Monroe (Always been on VHF), Ontario, Wayne, Genesee (Low band for dispatch only), Orleans (Low band for dispatch only). The only two left in our immediate still on low band is Livingston and Wyoming and Wyoming has already been licensed to a new UHF Repeater System. Migration to this system has been very slow due to very unfunded fire departments in the area. The southern counties like near the PA line haven't moved off low band just because of the terrain in which low band will travel farther than VHF for mobile to Comm Center Communications.

453.175/110.9 is Mercy Flight Central, a completely different entity from Mercy Flight of WNY.

Here we go again
Both Mercy Flight CENTRAL and Mercy Flight WNY are licensed on 453.175.
CENTRAL uses a Pl of 110.9 as you noted callsigns WPNQ259 & WQKG795
WNY uses a PL of 91.5 callsign WQJZ818
Both of these have been confirmed by multiple people.

Mercy Flight Central originally licensed 453.175 as a "Flight Follow" frequency a few years back. Mercy Flight West received coordination permission from the NYS DOH EMS Bureau and was licensed on it a couple years ago, also for "Flight Follow" purposes.
You will hear once the helo is airborne the estimated flight time, confirmation when they have made contact with the LZ crew, once airborne again their destination and estimated flight time, arrival info at hospital and finally when they are returning to base and estimated flight time.
I listen to them daily on a Motorola XTS5000 portable in Brighton NY (Rochester). I live about 1.5 air miles from URMC/Strong Memorial Hospital. the regional trauma center. I am in the primary flight path.

FDR, if you want to send me a PM with an email address, I'll send you what I have for the Broome County area.
I have a FreeScan print out in HTML format of my Medevac file that I use in my Uniden scanners.

In outlying areas you might hear the helos better on 458.175 (if they use a repeater system).
