Default New Here, And A New Online Scanner

Hello All!

I'm new here at RadioReference, and have just recently brought my scanner online. I'm an electronics, scanner, and weather nut, and look forward to participating in these forums, learning from you established folks, and contributing when and where I'm able to.

My online scanner covers the Broome County, NY, and surrounding areas for all relevant police, fire, and emergency services. The scanner is being broadcast using Oddcast for audio only, and with Windows Media Encoder for a full audio and visual experience.

The RadioReference Oddcast feed is here: Broome County Police, Fire, and Emergency Services Live Scanner Audio

The VISUAL Windows Media feed is here: http://broomesite.com

Best regards!

Hey bezking, thanks for the welcome, appreciated!

I use the same avatar on many forums, and several folks have had similar comments about it.

Welcome to the RR site Rick, I'll be listening to your feed as I used to reside up that way. No offense intended but is that a real dog?

Thanks FLRAILMAN. Where in the area did you used to live?

Default New here & a new on-line scanner

Many many moons ago I stayed in Albany for about 6 months but I hailed from Hopewell Junction in Dutchess County, very cold up that way, however I really got introduced to brutal snow & ice cold weather when I was at Buffalos "then" Penn Central Bison yard for a while. Couldn't wait to leave. I mean that was snow shoe territory. Again, welcome to the site.

(PS) I think it's the eyes, yeah it's his eyes.

Hi, I am new to scanning as well, only about a month or so. I recently purchased my first scanner a Uniden BC246T handheld which I am very satisfied with. Since I live in The Bronx in New York City, there is so much for me to listen to. Yesterday, it was exciting, I heard two events on the scanner and then saw them covered on the news that evening. I guess it doesn't get any better than that.

Default New here & on-line scanner now sliding over to avatars

pmstern, speaking of avatars, I just saw the original last week, the updated version with Tom Cruise really stunk.

Original 1953
The War of the Worlds (1953)

Remake 2005
War of the Worlds (2005)

Yep, it can be downright cold in upstate New York, no doubt about that. As for the Buffalo area, definitely big snow country.

LOL, those human eyes on that dog face are a bit disconcerting.
