Last week a passenger jet landed at Newark Liberty Int. Airport minus one of its 3 wheels. Nobody hurt except the papd edacs radio system which crashed just prior to the plane skidding to a stop. Acorrding to the local paper, a sergent had to have all the patrols called by cell phone and told to switch to a back-up channel. They were able to handle the job. My question is: Isn't there a fail soft default channel that automatically kicks in when an edacs trs goes down [when the WTC colapsed, NWK and JFK went to there own 800 freq in the system as a conventional repeater] so that the change over would be seamless. Also, could the recent inclusion of LAG to the system have caused this problem in the first place?
