Rockland County officials, have petitioned the FCC to grant them a two-year construction deadline to complete their new Project 25, Phase II TDMA TRS. Apparently, they have ran into some delays, and plan on connecting to the New York Statewide Wireless [Page 2]. You can read more about their plans at the following:

This is another county crying about how bad the economy is and how they have no money yet they go ahead again with a plan for a trunking system. If you have no money how can you build a trunk system? They have been playing with building out a system for well over 20 years. Save the money keep the PD on VHF, keep the fire on low band with RT pac's and UHF links. Stop spending money you don't have or have to get from the federal government. Rockland is the state's smallest county with some of the highest salaries for Police.

It's going to be painful, but we all have to think of doing what we can with less. No more billion dollar radio systems just because Motorola and Tyco say its nessary to fight terrorists. No more $800,000 fire trucks and $500,000 mobil com centers. Do you think are taxes are high, and do you think congress is going to be able to stop the ever increasing national debt? Just think about how your kids are going to survive in the future. Our enemies are going "Boo" and we spend our selves into economic ruin. Get a grip!

We as Americans have had it to easy for too long and now we have to pay for it.

the letter says that they are using 2 sites and new frequncies - which 2 - i have never heard any testing or use, by the exsisting uhf channels - how long can they hold onto the freq's am sure other agencies like Westchester or Bergen could use the addional channels in thier on the air systems?
the 470.500 fire repeat of low band audio is so bad that it should be put down by lethal injection how can that exist for several years with little or no audio?

There are 2 sites on the air for the DA's office and they are using P25 and encryption. The 470.500 is not part of the county and not owned by the county.
