I covered the FDNY EMS graduation/up grade at Laguardia College today. Needed to get Comish Sal to detail his plans to charge those who cause traffic accidents for FDNY fire & EMS services [$365 to $495 depending on severity ]. I got a chance to ask him: will FD dispatch go to the DOITT UHF TRS? "Yes" he said, "but not digital". I also ask about the 700 Meg system. "That's part of the nation wide first responder system. We'll be long gone by the time that's up". Who knows.

FDNY dispatch will NOT be going to the trunked system. Conventional channels nestled between the UHF trunked channels within the "Channel 16" system are already simulcats of the VHF dispatch operations. However, there will be FDNY Comms and Admin talkgroups on the UHF trunked system just like they have been on the 800 system for ages. Look for those UHF talkgroups to come alive soon.
