I recently that the NYC section includes 6 channels labeled Mutual Aid under City Services. Does anyone know who the intended users of these channels are ?

This is the info I received, it is believed that OEM will dictate when, where and how it is to be used, and by whom. Reported to be still very much in the planning stages.

NYCMAC 1 482.68750 pl 110.9
NYCMAC 2 482.71250 pl 123.0
NYCMAC 3 482,81250 pl 167.9
NYCMAC 4 482.73750 pl 136.5
NYCMAC 5 482.78750 pl 151.4
NYCMAC 6 482.83750 pl 186.2

Radio techs are in the process of switching out the unused NYPD InterOp channels and turning them into the new NYC Mutual Aid channels. Yesterday and today they have been switching over to their new PL tones and retuning the system to accommodate the new usage. There will be multiple receivers around the city to ensure proper HT coverage for each of the six repeaters. These channels will be included in the new EMS radios for the Chiefs and Officers plus most likely the same in the FDNY, NYPD and OEM radios.

The NYPD InterOp channels that have not been flagged for switching yet are 482.3875 (SI-CWIO) and 482.5375 (SIIO-S).

Yes, the PLs are correct. I have already switched my radios to the new tones and they work when they are keyed up and testing.

What's new about the PL Tones? Aren't they the same PL's that the IO"s have had for years?

Last night, New Years Eve, I heard NYC OEM doing a radio test with FDNY on UTAC43. After he tested, OEM stated he was going back to Citywide.

You have to keep in mind that at the end of the day, NYE isn't a huge event except for Times Square. There is really nothing that goes on in NJ (at least on a multi-agency level) for New Years Eve.

You look at an event like the 4th of July fireworks on the Hudson there is a need to have coordination between NY and NJ. They were using NNJ UASI infrastructure (UTAC4-8) for this purpose.

There are other channels in the area that could be used for a NY calling NJ or vise versa. Fed I/O is one potential channel along with UCALL or other interop channels that are monitored by a number of agencies.
