Hi Folks,
I am in the process of testing a new audio feed here at RR titled NNJ and NY Interops
This feed covers the VHF NJ SPEN frequencies of (Statewide Police Emergency Network) and the (Urban Area Security Initiative interoperability Working Group or UASI which include U and I-TAC interoperability frequencies) In the North-East Region of New Jersey they cover the seven (7) counties of Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic and Union counties and the Cities of Newark and Jersey City. In New York, New York City includes the five (5) Boroughs of Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, Manhattan, Richmond (Staten Island).

These frequencies are normally quiet except for routine nets and radio checks. Activity will pick up when special events, sporting events, parades, funerals and other auxiliary operations are taking place.

However these frequencies do become quite active in the event of a large scale or wide area incident requiring multiple public safety agency responses (Police, Fire, EMS, OEM, FEMA, and USCCG etc).

At this time I am only covering the analog transmissions on these frequencies. Digital P25, Trunked Talk Groups and the VTAC frequencies in this category are NOT Covered! I relize the NJSP 800 MHz trunked system has various talk groups assigned to this function, However, at this time I am only looking for help of adding additional frequencies (analog) that are used for interops especialy between NYC and NNJ. Can you help? Either PM me directly or post in this forum.

Thanks

I am looking at the Common/Shared - Interoperabilitysection of the NY State Data Base. I see UTAC and ITAC frequencies that are common between NY & NJ. However,
I am not sure that the other frequencies
are used between NNJ and NYC or are the strictly used NY state wide only. That's why I am asking for input from the NY side.

54.28750 156.7 PL VFIRE25 NFM
154.30250 156.7 PL VFIRE26 NFM
155.47500 156.7 PL VLAW31
155.48250 156.7 PL VLAW32 NFM

As to MAC frequencies are you referring to
Regional Emergency Medical Alerting Center (REMAC) frequencies?

I am holding back on monitoring certain EMS Channels.
TOS for the feed states "I agree to NOT broadcast dedicated channels or talkgroups used for ambulance to hospital communications"

So I'll look into EMS interops later on and then add frequencies when I am sure they don't violate the TOS. (HIPPA Laws protecting patient identity is the primary reason for restrictions on monitoring ambulance to hospital communications.)

Thanks in advance:cool:!

Ken,the MAC freequencies are not the REMAC frequencies. They are the old I/O channels in NYC that have been re-allocated by the FCC to be used for mutual aid between agencies in NYC that come from other jurisdictions to operate in NYC. For example, units that come from bergen county into NYC and rockland county and so on just like on 9/11,that's to make things easier. The problem on 9/11 was no communication between outside agencies and NYC agencies so these frequencies have been re-allocated for that use.

The new Mutual Aid Communications frequencies are not in the engines or ambulances. They are only in the chiefs radios in suppression and ems. The OEM has them also as well as NYPD SOD units ie: ESU,Harbor,Aviation, K-9.

FYI, for Rebanded 800, they would be known as

8CALL90, 8TAC91, 8TAC92, 8TAC93 and 8TAC94

ICALL and ITAC are the Alpha names/tag for the Old [Non Rebanded channels]

OK, Thanks I figured that. Here in Jersey they have already switched to the rebanded I-TAC frequencies. Also the older I-TAC and the rebanded conterparts are simulcast during incidents and special events. I don't want to duplicate and therefore are not monitoring the "Old" I-TAC freqs

Also a GREAT resource! Thanks for the link!!!!

Ken,

I'm trying to download these into ARC-300 and 160 but can't find them under NY, NJ or the Feds.

I know you said analog only...but the NY/NJ Federal Interop Repeater 167.7875 NAC $653 might be a good add if you later upgrade to a digital scanner for the feed. Alot of the UASI interops are mixed mode as well, NAC $293. Just a thught...

I am in the process of doing a major upgrade to this feed by adding P25 Digital and Selected Interop Talk Groups from NJSP 800 Trunked System. Also added will be the V-TAC frequencies and Federal Interop frequencies. This Feed will also support Alpha TAGS! The scanner is 396T it does not support individual NAC codes but decodes non-encrypted P25

Some help from NY listners, So far communications on this frequency have been P25 Encrypted. I have not monitored this frequency before. So if this encryption is occasional, I still keep in in scan. If however, Like NJ's ITAC 6 which is encrypted all the time, I'll remove it from the scan list...why bother:mad:! right?

Please do not turn this thread into a discussion about the merits of encryption:cool: OK

Thanks:D

Ken,from my experience in listening to this channel it is encrypted only on ocassion. It was an FBI frequency at one time. I have heard alot of transmissions in the clear, especially up here in Orange County NY. The feds have the option of encryption on these frequencies and they do use it sometimes. Most of the time that it is encrypted is when the President is in town or something like that.
