Motorola P25 Phase II TDMA

100 GTR 8000 700 MHz trunking repeaters and 10 GTR 8000 UHF base stations for analog paging/alerting

The UHF-T band system that has been in the works for nearly a decade has been reconfigured for 700 MHz. It will run Phase II right out of the box. One currently licensed UHF-T band frequency will be retained for the analog paging/alerting, the rest will be returned to the frequency pool.

The system will be online for PD and EMS by the Dec 31st, 2012 narrowband deadline. FD will migrate to the system at some point in 2013, since the low band system is unaffected by narrowbanding.

There has been a fury of "concrete and steel" progress on the system, with most of the sites already built out, and ground breaking on the remaining sites. Ground was broken just yesterday for one of the sites in Haverstraw. This system has been a very long time in the works, with many potholes and speed bumps along the way, but it is finally full steam ahead.

In the end, all those delays and holdups probably worked out for the best. The originally designed system would've been in the already overcrowded UHF-T band, which also had issues with where certain frequencies could and couldn't be used, as well as restrictions on the output power of the repeaters. Such is not the case on 700 MHz. Implementing Phase II TDMA out-of-box provides for more efficient usage of the 10 frequencies that are being licensed.

Would you know the setup for the P25 and trunking as of this date?

Thanks

The FCC applications are still pending, no licenses have been issued yet. They are still building out the sites and haven't even ordered the repeaters or antennas yet. It's way too early to start talking about control channels and talkgroups. ;)
