Default State Police Troop F Frequency

154.695, which is the statewide emergency/special bulletin frequency is being used today by Troop F Middletown for dispatch to certain units. Does anyone know what is going on, is something new.

If your hearing Zone 3 catskill.....they cant use Troop 155.535 from certain towers cause they blow some local PD up north off the air...so its either County channel or statewide...other than that i am not hearing anything out of the norm

Up here in Troop G, Zone-3, they will sometimes use 154.695 to contact their cruisers in the Adirondacks (Hamilton & northern Fulton County, if troop freqs are unreadable. I can even signal stalk 154.695 from the Cathead Mtn. tower.

Default More unusual SP traffic

So today on one of the SP "tactical" frequencies, either 155.565 or 155.625, there were some very unusual transmissions.

The first sounded like school bus or taxi company traffic, things like "He needs a pickup, his ride is here".

Later I heard transmissions between a unit identifying as 4F20 and an unknown dispatcher (not the 'regular' voice on 155.535). This transmission was to the effect of "10-38, 10-4 at the residence, verbal only"

This really doesn't make sense because Troop F does not have a zone 4, and they don't use 10 codes. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

Saratoga Springs PD has a repeater on 155.535 (CTCSS 123.0 Hz.) and they use unit numbers like 42xx; perhaps that might be what you heard?

The police transmissions on 155.565 were Pike County PA dispatch traffic. I still have no idea what the school bus sounding ones were.

Pike County is on 155.625 (162.2 PL), not 155.565.

And it's not unusual at all to hear Troops F and K operating on 154.695, especially if 155.535 is busy with other traffic. Troop K especially, very active on that frequency for routine dispatching of SP units.

some Troops use the State channel when the Troop channel doesn't have as good of coverage in an area. that or someone isn't listening to the right channel and the State channel is programmed as priority over all channels on the mobile/portable radios.
