According to a twitter post, FDNY transmitted a 4th alarm for a fire in Queens (Rockaway). They are having trouble with water pressure and the fire is spreading.

I heard Manhattan Dispatch put out a 4th for that. What type of structure is it?

According to media, it's a large fire involving multiple houses Tracking the Storm - Interactive Feature - NYTimes.com . I was on the Manhattan feed, and it's hard to catch everything with all this chaos.
The New York Times reported earlier in the evening that according to the mayor, the NYC 911 system was receiving 10,000 calls every half hour, 10 times the normal volume.

Yeah, that's why I'm just "trying" to log big events in Manhattan relative to the storm from different agencies and media. Also earlier in a press conference Mayor Bloomberg said do not call 911 unless its life threatening.

It's in Queens, and its now a 5th alarm, and its not "a" structure its about 15 houses and it sounds like many are a total loss... This fire is huge, I was seeing the glow in South Brooklyn!

According to ConEd, it can take up to a week to fully restore power to New York City. Associated Press Reports that ConEd states 670,000 customers are without power in the New York City area. 230,000 people are without power in Manhattan alone.

Any idea what had specifically started the fire? Electrical, gas, etc?

No and I don't think they are worried about that now, they are just trying to save the neighborhood.

greater than first alarms are announced over all the fire radios. They do not "put out" the alarm. They just announce it on their frequency (and send over relocaters, obv)

To be clearer, I didn't hear it transmitted on Manhattan. I wasn't meaning they "put out" the alarm.
