Default NYSP Narrowband

Was wondering if anyone has the splinters for NYSP, more specifically Troop G and possibly T? Getting tired of the low volume thing unless they don't and I'll have to get an amplifier.

Andrew, what's the deal with the low volume and Troop G? Will this change when they switch to narrow band?

What exactly do you mean by "splinters"? None of the frequencies changed during the narrowbanding process, it was the transmitter deviation that was reduced (from 5 kHz to 2.5 kHz), which is why the audio is lower.

Make sure your scanner is set for FMN/NFM on those frequencies, that should boost the audio a bit. If you have a Uniden DMA scanner, you can also increase the volume per channel.

I have my PSR600 mode set on automatic. When it does stop on Troop G Base, 155.445 it comes up as FM, not NFM. It does show the new PL code of 110.9. Has Troop G switched over to NFM?

Troop G narrowbanded about 2 months ago.
While I'm not familar with the automatic detection on a PSR600, I doubt it can tell the difference automatically between FM and NFM. Try manually setting that channel.

I'll change my settings to NFM and see if it makes a difference.

As far as I can tell, Thunderknight is correct. The GREs cannot automatically detect NFM vs. FM. It looks like there is a built-in presumption depending on the frequency in Tune mode.

Could be a few things maybe audio levels are not set up correctly in the consoles. There is one agency in my area that seems like that's the case. The dispatcher sounds very low but the cars and the DTMF tone that sounds right before the repeater drops out sounds fine.
