Default NYC Citywide Buff frequencies...

I hear the CBS citywide alert buff channel will be changing this January. Does anyone know what the new frequency and PL tone will be?

Default Citywide Fire BufFS

I got an e-mail from somebody saying t hat the buff groups who's on 461.2250 was moving to another frequency starting January 2013. I have heard them say they're making radios narrowband complianlt, but nothing about changing frequencies all together I checked with one source who didn't have any information now I'm throwing it out here for the group.

I don't have any firsthand information, but here are the frequencies Citywide Disaster Services is licensed on (current frequency in bold):

Chrysler Building
460.975 - WQMD752 - 100w - FMN, TRBO and P25 emissions
461.225 - WQIN644 - 100w - FMN and TRBO emissions

Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn
463.5875 - WQIN644 - 40w - FMN and TRBO emissions

Kingsborough Community College, Brooklyn
462.0875 - WQIN644 - 100w - FMN and TRBO emissions
463.5875 - WQIN644 - 100w - FMN and TRBO emissions

Peninsula Family Health Center, Queens
462.0875 - WQIN644 - 100w - FMN and TRBO emissions

If they are changing frequencies, 460.975 at the Chrysler Building seems to be the one that stands out. Note that they have all of these frequencies licensed for MOTOTRBO mode, and 460.975 also licensed for P25. It is possible they're planning to switch to a digital mode. I suppose we'll find out soon enough.

Justin, I only listed the frequencies they are licensed for so that you and others can monitor them to determine what frequency they might be moving to, if they are indeed changing frequencies. Like I said, I have no firsthand knowledge beyond that.

I would suggest that you start monitoring 460.975, which seems the most likely frequency they might switch to based on their licenses.
