well there is an airport at Griffiss Business and Technology Park that is the "new" Oneida County Airport. perhaps that's why customs would want a presence there? closer proximity to NYS Homeland Security at the "old" Oneida County Airport.

haven't heard about any plans though.

You are probably referring to Griffiss International Airport, formerly Griffiss AFB.

Does the local police training unit use it for driver training?

I know they do use the airstrip down at the old Sampson AFB site for that as well. But that runway is 7,000 feet long so they can do high speed stuff.

"new" or "old" airport?

"new" is at Griffiss. There is one runway that at one end is crossed by a road, used very so infrequently though and I believe there is another way to get around there anyhow.

"old" is NYS Homeland Security. also co-located there is the NYSP EVOC course. street lines for sure would be painted on the former runways.

There is only two airports... Ones Griffiss and the other on is Oneida.
