Default Onondaga System with Freescan

Has anyone been having an issue with EZgrab and importing the Onondaga CNY trunked system?

I am able to get the other county groups copied but Onondaga and Syracuse only show up as the grid with no channels.

Any thoughts?

Thank you.

With all of the problems you are posting about Freescan, maybe the best solution is to upgrade to better software.

FreeSCAN is excellent software, and certainly better than that ARC junk Gommert overcharges for.

Maybe the better solution is to pony up the $15 for a 6 month subscription to RR so everything can be easily downloaded directly to the software.

Are you using IE to copy from? If so, that's your problem. Use Firefox, it actually works with FreeScan where IE is a big fail.

I think you and I had the discussion about the firefox in another thread, to which I did agree, that was a problem.

I have been using the firefox with that software since.

It just didn't make sense that all of the sudden some of the groups copied to the clipboard while the other 2 wouldn't.

Couldn't remember who that was with. I was not able to reproduce copy/ezgrab failures with that system when I tried earlier.

Not sure what you mean by that Joey... you were able to copy those same groups, onondaga county and syracuse, to the clipboard without issue?

If you are talking about the CNYICC, then yes, I was able to:

copy the system freqs from the Onondaga Simulcast into FreeScan ( I did not try the other sites as I don't see that would be a problem)

and copy the Syracuse LE TGs as well.

See attached file. ( change zip to 996)
Attached Files
File Type: zip 1.zip (14.1 KB, 6 views)

Yes sir, that's the one. Thanks for your help Joey.

It wasn't the simulcast frequencies, I got those. I started adding the new groups under that site and it was going fine until I tried grabbing the Onondaga and Syracuse law groups. When I copied to clipboard it would only show the "grids" where all the info would be, no channels.

I'll be going back to it shortly to see if it was just a hangup of some sort.

Just tried again, isn't showing the groups being imported.

Also tried creating another site under the same system and still no luck.

I never had any problems with FreeScan and I have not had a problem with the Syracuse system other then missing channels that aren't listed.

I'm not sure what the deal is.

It has copied/imported everything I've tried except those 2 groups.

Are you trying to tell us that right now, you can copy and import anything else, but those 2 groups fail? This makes no sense since everything is in the same format.

I was just able to copy all six Onondaga and all four Syracuse talkgroup subcategories, then import them into FreeSCAN using EZ-Grab, with no trouble at all.

Everything looks fine in the database, so it must be something on your end.

Have you tried copy/paste into Notepad or Word to see what's on the clipboard?

Precisely joey. That's why I said it makes no sense and figured it had to be my computer, which still doesn't make sense.

I just attempted to "grab" every talkgroup under Onondaga/Syracuse this time and it won't copy any of them, only groups unrelated.

Oh well, I'll just revisit it now and again and see if it "takes".

I appreciate your help, thanks again.

I just copied to notepad and all the proper fields/info show up there.

I can't imagine there is some way that big brother is blocking it from certain areas/regions but that's certainly what it would seem like.

Thanks for your help

I'm not sure why you want to use easy grab, when you can download what you want?

Probably because of not wanting to pay for access to any info.

If I purchased something and still had the same problem, it would become an even "bigger issue" wouldn't it...?

I tried doing the same import on a work computer with the same problem.

I think big brother is watching here in CNY!
