Default 396xt programming

I recently just bought this scanner, and with some help from others here, i,m just not grasping this. So i,m looking for some place or company in the buffalo area that does programming...i called hirschs, and they want a minium of 85 dollars, and i,ll choose what i want and we will go from there, after spending to get it...that price seems a bit high. I tried you tube videos, but where ever there from dont necessarly apply here, and i downloaded freescan, but i dont know the differences between all these frequencys and which bank to throw them into. thnxs in advance for any help provided.

its really not that hard - so after watching the videos and reading up etc
go to Yahoo Groups for the XT there are files you can import into Freescan doesnt matter if they dont have your area but once you see how its laid out you can make your own changes - and if you try to program - with Freescan is the way to go - you cant/wont break the radio, just plug something in and see what happens
